Carpet Style Flooring:

Carpet Style Flooringfloor covering, rug, area rug, throw rug, hooked rug, hearth rug, braided rug; Oriental rug or carpet style flooring, Persian rug or carpet style flooring, Turkish rug or carpet style flooring, Turkoman rug or carpet style flooring, drugget or India drugget; carpet style flooring, carpet style flooringing, wall-to-wall carpet style flooring, broadloom carpet style flooring, pile carpet style flooring, shag carpet style flooring, stair carpet style flooring, runner; tile, tiling, linoleum, vinyl; hardwood flooring, planking, boarding, floorboard, parquet; mat, matting, doormat, bathmat; dropcloth, groundsheet or ground cloth; duckboard

Stair carpet style flooring must be laid over underlay, which can be in the form of pads tacked to each tread and overhanging the nosing by 2in (5cm). You can tack the carpet style flooring in place, although special staircase grippers will give a better finish. Start at the bottom, with the pile facing down the stairs. Tack the carpet style flooring to the first tread, press the fold into the first gripper and, working upward, keep the carpet style flooring very taut. When you reach the top riser, tack it under the last nosing so that the landing carpet style flooring just overlaps it.
